Day 10-Eureka-Pacific-Meramec Caverns-Cuba-Uranus

Another Day on Route 66 — Missouri to… Uranus! 😂 Started the day in Eureka, Missouri, at the Visitors Center, then hit the road and made my way through Pacific. Today was a little lighter on the mileage, but that’s because I took a detour to Stanton to explore the caverns. And let me tell you, after spending time in 97-degree Missouri heat, stepping into a 60-degree cave felt absolutely AMAZING! While Route 66 winds through the rolling hills above ground, there’s a whole different world hiding underneath them. Definitely worth the stop! Next up was Cuba, Missouri, better known as the “Mural City.” The town is covered with incredible murals painted on the fronts and sides of buildings, each telling a little piece of the area’s history and character. I’ve attached plenty of pictures so you can check them out. And then came my final stop of the day… URANUS! 🤣 Yep, you read that right. And yes, I laughed my butt off! The folks in Uranus have definitely embraced the name and turned it into an entire experience filled with off-color jokes, signs, and plenty of opportunities for some pretty easy humor. Let’s just say there were several moments when I was laughing harder than I probably should have been! So that wraps up another fun day on the Mother Road. Tomorrow, I’m planning to finish up Missouri and make my way into Oklahoma… I think! 😆 Of course, that plan could change completely depending on what I discover along the road. That’s the beauty of Route 66—you never know what’s waiting for you around the next bend. Until tomorrow… keep cruising!
