Day 16 - Albuquerque-Gallup-Winslow

A drive through Albuquerque quickly reminded me of the similarities between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, particularly with the beautiful mountains serving as a backdrop to both cities. Continuing west toward Grants, New Mexico, the scenery became even more spectacular. The road was lined with mountains on both sides, colorful murals painted on local businesses, and plenty of great opportunities to stop and capture the moment. Next came the Continental Divide, a small but memorable stop along the way. From there, I continued on to Gallup, a town filled with incredible murals, giant dinosaurs, and teepees—each adding its own unique character to the journey. I finished the day with the pièce de résistance: Winslow, Arizona. There I literally found myself “standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona,” just as one of my favorite Eagles songs, Take It Easy, describes. Even better, the song was playing in the background, making the moment feel almost surreal. Tomorrow, I’ll continue exploring the rest of Arizona.
